MID MICHIGAN BUCKS WIN GOAL-FEST

The Mid Michigan Bucks minor league soccer team stayed within a game of the first-place Chicago Fire Reserves (6-0-1) by defeating the Gemini, 5-3, at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio on Saturday night. Kyle Veris led the Bucks (6-1-1) with two goals and an assist, while Ryan Mack added a goal and two assists. Mid Michigan led 3-0 at the half and was up 5-1 before giving up two goals in the last five minutes. "We got very sloppy at the end, but overall it was a good effort," said Bucks coach Dario Brose.

Veris opened the scoring in the second minute, beating the Gemini defenders after a pass from Ryan Mack. Mack followed eight minutes later converting a penalty kick to give the Bucks a quick two-goal lead. Mid Michigan continued to press until Adam Heinemann buried a one-time shot from a beautiful lay-off from Veris. "I thought that first half was our best 45 minutes of the season. We moved the ball and stayed organized," said Brose. "The boys are really starting to play as a team." Eric Pogue (3 saves) got the win for the Bucks, who outshot the Gemini 16-11.
