KALAMZOO BEATS BUCKS 2-1 ON SATURDAY
Minor League Soccer Team Off Until July 2nd in Saginaw

The Kalamazoo Kingdom knocked off the Mid Michigan Bucks in Premier Development League (PDL) action on Saturday night, 2-1, in Kalamazoo. Nick Pantazi scored both goals for the Kingdom, including a penalty kick called on the Bucks' Kellen Kalso with 16 minutes left in the game. The Bucks (8-3-1) looked sluggish all night, never finding the rhythm they enjoyed in the last two games. "We were very laxed with our marking in the back and in the box, causing several dangerous chances for Kalamazoo," said Bucks general manager, Jim Duggan. "It was not our finest hour."

Kalamazoo (5-5) opened the scoring at the 23rd minute on a breakaway by Pantazi as the Bucks got caught in an offside trap. The Bucks continued to press and carry the play, out-shooting Kalamazoo 6-3 and gaining five corner kicks, but could not convert until Mychal Turpin's penalty kick at the 31st minute. Turpin was brought down in the 18-yard area after a nice individual effort up the right wing, resulting in a 1-1 tie at the half. The Bucks out-shot Kalamazoo 10-7 for the game. Goalkeeper Eric Pogue made four saves on the night for the Bucks, who remained in second place ahead of Kalamazoo and behind the Chicago Fire Reserves (9-0-1).
