BUCKS WIN OVERTIME THRILLER
Weekend Road Trip Brings Split in Windy City

The Mid Michigan Bucks needed a goal in the final minute of regulation on Saturday night to send their soccer game with the Chicago Eagles Select to overtime, then scored again nine minutes into the extra period for the 3-2 victory. Player-coach Dario Brose scored the sudden death tally on a free kick in his first appearance ever as a Buck on an assist from Paul Snape. Kevin Taylor scored the game-tying goal on a nice feed from Kellen Kalso, while Pat Noonan (Mike White assisted) notched the first goal for the Bucks (7-2-1), keeping them within two games of the Chicago Fire Reserves (8-0-1) for the Great Lakes Division Lead. "We dominated the game and played really well for 90 minutes, but just couldn't finish our chances," said Brose of the match that saw the Bucks trail for 89 minutes. Troy Sauer (unassisted at the 3rd minute) and Pedro Figierido (from Jason Akers at the 32nd min.) scored for the Eagles.

On Friday night, the Chicago Fire Reserves did a number on the Bucks, who could have taken over first place from Chicago with a victory, winning 4-1. The game featured the usual physical play from these two perennial Premier Development League (PDL) powerhouse teams, which was magnified by playing on a slim, 55-yard wide field. The Bucks received three yellow cards, while Chicago led in fouls, 22-14. "Chicago is a well organized and disciplined team. They beat is in the air all day - we are not going be successful against that team while we're getting beat to the ball that often," said Bucks general manager and co-owner, Jim Duggan.
