BUCKS MAKE PLAYOFFS WITH WIN OVER DAYTON Undefeated Des Moines Menace Up Next For Mid Michigan
The Mid Michigan Bucks minor league soccer team came away with a 3-1 victory over the Dayton Gems at Plymouth-Canton High School on Saturday night, putting the Premier Development League team into the Central Conference playoffs. The Bucks (11-5-2) finished in second place behind the Chicago Fire Reserves (14-1-2) in the Great Lakes Division and will face the top seed from the Heartland Division on Friday, July 26th in Des Moines. The Fire Reserves will face the second-place team in the Heartland Division (yet to be determined) in the other semifinal, with the two Friday winners meeting for the Central Conference Championship on Saturday night, also in Des Moines.
The Bucks opened the scoring on a beautiful goal by Ryan Mack in the eighth minute on a feed from fellow Indiana University teammate, Pat Noonan. Mid Michigan continued to carry the play as Boyzzz Khumalo cashed in on another great pass, this one delivered by Paul Snape at the 25-minute mark and Snape scored at the 43rd minute on an assist from Mack. The lone Dayton goal of the match came off the kick-off I the 44th minute as Tr4avis Sobers hit the upper corner past goalkeeper Eric Pogue. "We have starting to play well as a team the past two weeks. Hopefully we will be able to give the Menace a game," said Bucks coach, Dario Brose.
