Bucks Geared To Open 2002
Season In Detroit

The 2002 Mid Michigan Bucks will have several new faces this year, as well as new stadiums to call home.  The Bucks, five-time Division Champions in their storied six seasons in operation will play four home games in Canton, two games in Birmingham, one game in Toledo, Ohio and two games at their home of the past five seasons, White Pine Stadium in Saginaw Township.

Bucks owners Dan and Jim Duggan made the transition this year to be more visible in Detroit for a number of reasons.  Since the Duggans have held the rights to the Detroit franchise for three years, the United Soccer League forced the issue to have major presence in the Detroit area.  "This move makes sense for a number of reasons, including the fact that many of our players are from the Detroit area and that it is one of the true hotbeds of soccer in America," said Livonia native Dan Duggan.  An equally important reason for the move to Detroit is to shift towards fulfilling another soccer dream, to lure a Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise to Detroit.  The campaign to bring an MLS (Division I) franchise to Detroit is already gaining momentum, before the Bucks have even played a game in the area.  (Go to mlsdetroit.com for more information).

In addition to putting the MLS Detroit plan into action, the Bucks have been busy recruiting top players from around the country and meeting with soccer groups from Toledo to Saginaw.  "The response we are receiving from local soccer clubs has been tremendous," said Duggan.  "And this should be the most exciting team that we've ever fielded."
