BUCKS BEAT WEST MICHIGAN IN OVERTIME
The Mid Michigan Bucks minor league soccer team remained undefeated after a come-from-behind, 2-1 victory over the West Michigan Edge on Wednesday night at Holland Municipal Stadium. The Bucks (1-0-1) fell behind on a goal by the Edge's Junior DeBarros (54th minute) on a nice cross from Rafael Devet. The Bucks then gained new life with second-half substitutes Adam Heinemann, Stephan David, Jason Perry and Tom Eller, whose fresh legs put the pressure on West Michigan. David finally scored on a first-time, left-footed strike of a Ryan Mack cross to tie the game in the 76th minute and send the match into sudden-death overtime.
Both teams exchanged attacks until Phil Presser stole an errant pass in midfield and found Paul Snape "Doggy Dogg", who laid it back for Presser. The defensive midfielder made no mistake by burying his shot low past Edge keeper Gabe Hall for the game-winner. Eric Pogue had five saves on the night for the Bucks. Stephan David was named Offensive Player of the Game, while defender John Swann garnered the honor of Defensive Player of the Game for the Bucks.
