BERKLEY NAMED SITE FOR US OPEN CUP MATCH

Bucks and Rough Riders to Meet in Round Two on June 25th at Hurley Field

The Detroit-based Mid Michigan Bucks minor league soccer team will host the Long Island Rough Riders in Round Two US Open Cup play at Hurley Field in Berkley on Wednesday, June 25th, the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) announced yesterday.  "We submitted Hurley and Plymouth-Canton as potential sites in our bid to host and the USSF obviously likes what Hurley has to offer," said Bucks general manager, Jim Duggan.  "This will be the biggest soccer game this area has hosted in a long time.  We are fortunate to be able to bring in a franchise with tradition of the Rough Riders as our first big match-up in Detroit."  The Bucks have hosted several Cup games in the past, including two against Major League Soccer (MLS) teams, but all were held in Saginaw, the Bucks home from 1996 to 2002.  Kick-off on June 25th is at 7:30pm.

Tickets will be $9 for adults and just $5 for kids (under 19) in uniform at the gate on game-day.  Beginning Friday, June 6th, fans may also reserve tickets at these prices in advance by emailing the Bucks at info@mmbucks.com or by calling 989-781-6888.  "This is the Federation's biggest tournament and we are hoping to attract affiliated (MSYSA, AYSO) youth players from all over southeast Michigan," said Duggan.  The winner of this Round Two match could draw an MLS team in Round Three on July 16 th.  All Round Three winners will play an MLS squad on August 6th.  Mid Michigan was one of six PDL squads (out of 51) to qualify and then received a bye into Round Two.  All six D3 Pro Teams enter in Round Two, with Long Island earning their spot by virtue of their D3 Championship last season.  The Bucks (5-0-1) continue their regular season Saturday night against the St. Louis Strikers at Hurley (7:30pm).

Dzubay and Cameron Named to PDL Team of the Week

The Premier Development League (PDL) selects the top 11 players from its 51 teams each week, naming them to the "Team of the Week".  For the first five weeks the Bucks had been shut out of this honor, but week six brought recognition to two Mid Michigan players - Midfielder Knox Cameron (University of Michigan, U-20 US National Team) and goalkeeper Peter Dzubay (U of M).  Dzubay gave up just one goal in his three starts last week and Cameron scored two goals in the Bucks' big US Open Cup Qualifying Game win over Indiana.
